Referrals

Most health plans require the primary care physician (PCP) to provide a written referral or authorization prior to sending a patient to a specialist. If your health plan has this requirement, it will be your responsibility to ensure that a current authorization/referral is on record prior to your appointment.

Please be advised that if we do not have a current authorization/referral at the time of your scheduled appointment, we will be unable to provide treatment.

Policies & Forms

At your initial visit, please come prepared with a complete list of medications you are taking, your current condition/complaint and copies of any labs, xrays, or other studies which have been taken prior to your visit.

At each subsequent visit, you will be asked to update us on any changes in your condition or medication list. Please also remember to inform the physician/staff of any changes in your address, phone number, insurance coverage, or primary care physician.

Convenient, On-Site Services

At the Northern California Arthritis Center we have made every effort to customize our facility to the unique needs of our patients.  We provide a comfortable and efficient infusion suite, extremity MRI and state-of-the-art bone density testing for osteoporosis.  Our numerous on-site services allow us to assess your condition quickly and minimize visits to other sites for testing.

Infusion Therapy: The recent introduction of new infusion therapies into the field of rheumatology has revolutionized the treatment of many types of arthritis, autoimmune illness, and osteoporosis.  If your condition requires an intravenous medication, you will appreciate our efficient and comfortable infusion suite.  During your treatment you will be cared for by our well-trained and highly experienced team of infusion nurses.  Also, our on-site facility ensures that there is always a physician close by.

Bone Densitometry (DXA):: We utilize the latest technology for bone testing, both to identify patients at risk for osteoporosis and to monitor effects of treatment.  The DXA scans are interpreted by physicians who are Certified Clinical Densitometrists.

MRI: Imaging studies are frequently used in the evaluation of joint pain.  Joint pain arises from damage to bone, cartilage, ligaments and tendons.  Changes in bone can be assessed by x-rays.  However, the other structures are best visualized by MRI.  The center has a dedicated extremity MRI scanner for detailed evaluation of joint disease.  The scans are interpreted by radiologists  specializing in musculoskeletal radiology .
